Leslie Bailey Streissguth began her career journey at the University of Virginia, where she majored in Rhetoric and Communications. After working in the broadcast news industry, she felt her professional life could offer more, so she started taking to people. From there, she pivoted and earned a Master’s of Teaching from Towson University. Her career has continued to carve its path, each turn coming from being curious, talking to people, and trying new things. Designing Your Life was something she did before there was a name for it!

Over the years, she has pursued a variety of careers—working in a fast-paced newsroom in Washington, D.C.; teaching middle school English in Maryland; volunteering in the Syracuse, New York community and Syracuse City Schools, and editing author’s articles, books, and more.

Now, Leslie teaches and serves as Associate Director, Career Advising, at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. She also coaches outside her work at the college. Ultimately, all her experiences led her to Designing Your Life. She is amazed how its philosophy meshes with the work she loves, her career coaching, and the perspectives this approach reveals to people who are wayfinding – finding their own path, and reframing experiences that already exist.
