Gene Roche is an career development professional with a diverse background in adult learning and development.. As the Executive Professor Emeritus of Higher Education at the College of William and Mary, his career has centered on exploring the intersections of emerging technologies, self-directed-learning, adult education and career development. He was a fellow-at the Center for Innovation in Learning Design and has worked with several thousand undergraduates and graduate students in Life/Work planning and design thinking. Prior to his faculty role, Gene held various leadership positions at William and Mary, including Director of IT Communications and Organizational Development, Director of Academic Information Services, and Director of University E-Learning Initiatives. Before joining William & Mary, he served as the Director of Career Services at Hamilton College and taught in graduate programs at Syracuse University and Elmira College. Gene Roche’s background includes earning his AB degree at Hamilton College and completing his MS and EdD degrees from Syracuse University. Prior to his retirement from William and Mary, he received The Aceto Award, presented annually to a member of the instructional or professional faculty who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to excellence in service to the campus community.
