Why Some People Seem Luckier Than Others

Have you ever noticed how some people just seem luckier than others?

The opportunities appear, the timing feels right, things somehow fall into place.

We all know people like that — a colleague, a friend, maybe even a family member. They have strong relationships, meaningful work, close-knit families, and still find time for their hobbies.

At first glance, it looks like luck.

But when you look closer, it might be something else.

They’re ready.
They’re willing.
They’re available.

Research shows that people who describe themselves as “lucky” are actually more aware of the opportunities around them.

They both see the possibilities (they’re ready) and are more open to responding to them (they’re willing) — in other words, they’re available.

This mindset helps them find their way forward more easily, which gives them the appearance of “being lucky.”

Total availability may take a lifetime to attain, but occasionally being just a little bit more available is quite doable. All it takes is some intentionality and readiness to discover a doorway to lots of lovely experiences that are just waiting for you.

Availability takes a leaning-in posture that can jumpstart good things happening — often without having to initiate them yourself.

Being available doesn’t require taking initiative. It just requires readiness.

This is great news, especially for introverts (like me) who often struggle with making the first move.
